Ruixu Mu

Student
Ruixu was born in Tianjin, China. She got her bachelor's degree at Dalian University of Technology, where she began the project of the decoration of small molecular medicine. She continued working on that in her Master's, in PUMC, Tsinghua University, where she focused on the study of discovering the derivatives with better activity of inhibiting IL-1β of carboxyamidotriazole, known as an anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory medicine. She then advanced this project to determine the target protein of this compound with the help of magnetic nanomaterials. In 2023, she joined the research group of Dr. Peter Fodran at the University of Groningen as a PhD student. Her research primarily involves the development of innovative photoredox methodologies, targeting the synthesis of complex molecular architectures that are challenging to access via conventional chemical approaches. Notably, these architectures represent highly valuable structural motifs for the design of pharmacologically relevant small molecules.
